Today’s Composers is a non-profit service to the composers out there like myself - who have written some music but are still virtually unknown - as a means of getting exposure. Today's Composers runs a podcast, which, like an internet radio station, sends out files of your music to anybody subscribed to this podcast.
By having your music on the podcast, there are three main benefits:
Since Today's Composers is not a profit-driven website, I am not going to charge high or even normal prices for a service like this. However, since the operation of this website is not close to free for me, I am afraid that I will have to charge a small amount to help me pay for the resources that are used. The breakdown is as follows:
I charge a $4 setup fee for accepted submissions, as well as $2 x recording size in MB each year with a possible $2 "excessive use" continuation fee if a recording exceeds using a gigabyte of bandwidth in a month (on average, about 250 downloads).
However, the application process is free, and I encourage anybody interested in becoming a part of this project to apply online. If your submission does not fit the criteria for the online application, feel free to contact me and I will see what we can work out.
The music isn’t the only innovative part of this podcast. The Today’s Composers Podcast is designed to be podcasting without all the introduction and advertising Podcast listeners have learned to despise. We give you the music you want and only the music you want, not altered or added to. Each episode is one recording as it was submitted.
The Today’s Composers podcast, while new, is increasing in listeners, and is now available on many podcast directories, including the iTunes Music Store and Podcast.net. Learn how to subscribe using iTunes!
Today’s Composers is a growing database of high-quality largely unperformed works. Any performing individual or ensemble is strongly encouraged to look into this highly untapped resource!
While many of the works on the Today’s Composers podcast are published, there is still a good number that are unfound by publishers. Since the podcast is highly exclusive, it is a quick resource to find superior lesser-known works.
Of course, you don't have to be a publisher or performer to enjoy the Today’s Composers podcast! Many of our listeners are ordinary people who enjoy tastefully innovative music. Each piece is so different from the next that this podcast can satisfy a wide variety of musical tastes.
